National Christmas Tree

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Yesterday, Steve and I went on our annual date to the National Christmas Tree. We enjoyed dinner in Shirlington at Capitol City Brewing Company before heading into DC. We didn't know it, but due to the crazy snow storm, the tree was closed for a few days and just reopened yesterday at 3pm. Lucky us that it was actually open!

All the trees were very pretty, especially with all the snow still on the ground, but it was freeeezing. Also, due to the snow, the yule logs weren't burning so well, so we didn't have a warm fire to stand around.

We love looking at all the trains set up around the tree, but only the train circling the base of the tree was running last night. The rest of the poor trains were buried under all the snow!

We didn't stay quite so long this year since we couldn't hang out by the bonfire, but we still enjoyed our visit :)
