The beach at the Grand Wailea was much more crowded. We had to get a cabana boy to bring two lawn chairs down to the beach for us each day and every time we had to squeeze into a spot on the sand. The wind would pick up right around 3pm every day, which would result in tons of flying sand stinging our skin. Once we couldn't stand being covered in sand any longer, we'd head to the pool. The pool was pretty awesome with some water slides and even a water elevator. The only down side (while being on your honeymoon) was the fact that there were tons of loud, splashing kids everywhere.

 

 

We found a cute little town called Lahaina that was about 40 minutes from our resort. We liked it so much that we went there for dinner twice. And Hawaiian shave ice. Mmmm it was so good!

We went on the Haleakala Skyline Tour, a zipline tour along the slopes of one of the world's largest volcanoes.

The fifth zipline was the last and the longest. It was 710 feet long to be exact. See the pole in the very far distance? You almost reach that! 

Our favorite adventure by far was the Road to Hana. It's a beautiful drive through lush, tropical rainforest. The drive was absolutely thrilling, especially being in the passenger seat and having no control over the car. Most of the road is very narrow (about 1.5 lanes wide), but it's a two way road. There are 620 curves and 46 one-lane bridges with parts of unpaved road, as well. Parts of the drive were comparable to riding a roller coaster. It was so awesome! If you are ever in Maui, you have to drive the Road to Hana. Oh, and be sure to drive the entire road around, don't stop in Hana and turn around like most people do.

Along the drive there are many roadside stands and you must stop for some delicious banana bread. We stopped twice.

Beep, beep! Pray for no oncoming cars around the curve!

After our 6 hour trip along the Road to Hana, we were starving and stopped for dinner at a cute little local place call the Flatbread Company in the cute little town of Paia. The restaurant was cute and served only locally grown organic products. We also had our first taste of gelato in Paia. It wasn't our last.

On our last day in Maui, before flying home, we drove up to Haleakala Crater. It was an awesome drive, driving above the clouds.

And then we hopped back on our puddle jumper to sadly begin our 18 hours of travel home.
