We enjoyed two wonderful weeks in Hawaii together. We spent the first week on the Big Island. The trip out there was a little longer than we expected, as it took over twelve hours of travel time. Thankfully I took some Benadryl to knock me out after I had an allergy attack on our first flight. When I woke up, we were just about to arrive in Hawaii. As soon as we landed, we were able to quickly pick up our Mustang convertible and head to our resort.
At check in, they upgraded us to an ocean view room and served us some of the best mango orange juice ever. When we arrived in our room there was a bottle of champagne and a sweet note waiting for us.
We dropped off our bags and headed out to grab some food by the beach and enjoy our first Hawaiian sunset. Check out our cute shirts that I gave Steve at our rehearsal dinner for us to wear as we traveled to Hawaii. All the women at the airports thought they were really cute and all the men giggled at Steve.
We enjoyed an outdoor breakfast every morning. Food was quite expensive, but we made an exception for breakfast because it was so delicious. We learned quickly to share a meal to save money. We requested the same waitress every day, Pua, and she always knew to bring us a few jars of this delicious honey made on the island.

We took advantage of the free bikes to ride down the road to a little shopping center with the cutest little grocery store some mornings after breakfast.

The beach at our resort was really nice. It was never crowded and the water was perfect. There were so many sea turtles swimming around and it was fun to find them when we went snorkeling. 

We ate dinner at lots of different places while on the Big Island. One evening we decided to splurge and eat dinner at the Canoe House, a beautiful but expensive restaurant right next to the ocean on our resort.

Our favorite restaurant was called the Blue Dragon. A local working at Sunglass Hut told us about it, so we decided to try it out. It was an open restaurant - you walk through a front door, but then it's all open air with no roof. The food was delicious and the live music was pretty good, too.
We decided to drive around after dinner one evening to explore a little and stumbled upon this beautiful little rainbow. 
Steve convinced me to let him play one round of golf while on our honeymoon. The course was on our resort and was so beautiful. I got to drive the golf cart and take pictures of the pretty scenery. Steve says it was pretty awesome to golf right next to the ocean. Their famous 15th hole, which they claim to be one of the most photographed holes in the world, was 200 yards over the ocean. Steve hit it right on the green and two putted for a par.


Check out these weird little birds! Their legs are so long! P.S. There were birds everywhere in Hawaii, especially at the outdoor breakfast and they weren't afraid of anything. They were NOT my friends.
One day we decided to drive across to the other side of the island. Pua had told us all about Waipi'o Valley and how beautiful it is, so we decided to make the trek around the Big Island to see what it was all about. Along the way, she told us we had to stop at Tex Drive In in Honokaa for some fresh malasadas, which is like a big sugary doughnut. They were delicious!

Following our visit to Waipi'o Valley, we traveled a little further to Akaka Falls.

The Big Island was so relaxing and the people were so incredibly friendly!! I'm ready to go back there right now!  Next up: Maui
